VOTING TEAM
The Voting Team's mission is to strengthen and expand fair and free voting for all by encouraging voter registration and getting out the vote. The Voting Team has three subcommittees:
- Voter suppression
- Voter registration
- Voter outreach: postcards, phonebanks, etc.
Voter suppression
Over the last 20 years, states have created barriers to voting, such as strict voter ID laws, cutting early voting times, restricting registration, and purging voter rolls too aggressively. This subcommittee has been studying groups that are working on these issues such as Fair Fight, VoPro Pros, VoteRiders, Common Cause and the Brennan Center for Justice. We are working on an op ed for the local newspapers.
Voter outreach
This subcommittee has been making postcard packets of postcards to support the campaign of Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff and to register voters there before the 2026 midterms. Since July 2025, INQ volunteers have sent 3500 postcards and have postcard parties and postcards coordinators in the North Quabbin towns. After the end of postcard writing two weeks before the election, we will be doing GOTV phonebanking for battleground Senate and House races.
Voter registration
This subcommittee has sent volunteers to do non-partisan voter registration in the community. Since spring 2025, volunteers have done voter registration in 17 places in the region including the local community college, libraries and senior center.
