From Indivisible Mass Coalition -- Indivisible and its allies have been quietly preparing for possible election subversion and interference in any form for months. They have studied likely scenarios for the four key election stages: Election Day; counting; certifying; and swearing-in. A staged response will be triggered by subversion or interference at these key stages in the days and weeks following November 3, and will escalate depending on the trigger.
In the next few days, look for a separate email from INQ asking if you are interested in signing up for an optional Signal group so that we can get in touch with you immediately if the national Indivisible and No Kings call for mass mobilization.
Sat., Oct. 31 from 11-12noon Celebrate Our Right to Vote -- Costumes Encouraged (but not necessary) Bring candy to share if you like!
Take the Pledge to Participate in Post-Election Actions if Necessary
Indivisible North Quabbin signed up to host an event in case No Kings calls for a national mobilization action between Nov. 3rd and Jan. 3rd. You can sign up to attend an event in case there is a call for a national action after the election. Copy and paste link to sign up at https://www.nokings.org/
In the event of election interference or sabotage, the No Kings movement will gather on November 4 to share real-time updates, align on the election defense strategy, and provide clear next steps for attendees to take in defense of democracy. Stages of Action That May Be Called
Many groups that are part of the Indivisible MA Coalition are beginning to plan for actions after the November 3rd Elections. Indivisible North Quabbin is planning to be part of actions if it is necessary. Groups are now involved in Stage 1 that is the planning phase. The other four stages include: state/local actions if a local issue (2), rapid response mobilization (3), focused pressure (4), and sustained mobilization + escalation (5).
Indivisible North Quabbin will continue working on Election Protection. One example of the work done recently is by the Voting Team. Over the past year this INQ Team worked on many things including researching and writing about early voting. In October the following My Turn article - "Too Big to Rig" was published in both the Recorder and Athol Daily News.
Too Big to Rig -- "In the last few months, everything has changed. The
rhetoric claiming widespread fraud and therefore the need to change the way we
vote has gotten more attention. Efforts to limit mail-in voting and early
voting by this administration have been stunning. Donald Trump himself, speaking at the Republican midterm
convention on Sept. 10, demanded his faithful raise their right hand and pledge
to vote whether they are “registered or not.” He told them to “cheat like
hell.” There was the president of the United States demanding his followers’
blind loyalty in committing election fraud. This action constitutes many
things, right out of the authoritarian playbook, for one, and it represents the
basest level of hypocrisy."
